Tosh valley and the village |
Well, to cut short, we made arrangements for his marriage in a picturesque and hidden heavenly village Tosh, a trek near amazing European village Kasol and spiritual Manikaran in Kullu region. After the marriage ceremony we had decided to take a moderate trek to one of the best trek in the world-KHEER GANGA via Bharsheni and Kalga.

On the second day, we headed for this pretty village in awesome Parvati Valley via Kasol and Manikaran from Manali with beaming Martin and his to be beautiful American bride, Kate.
Our route was Kullu-Bhunter and to Kasol- Manikaran, a 3 hours journey where we changed our car to local Jeep and headed to our remote mystic destination high up in in the Himalayas- TOSH.
A village at the far end of the Parvati Valley in Himachal Pradesh, Tosh is situated at a height of 7874 feet above sea-level. A two-hour bumpy ride from Kasol in oue Jeep led us to Bharsheni which is the last stop on the bus route to the Parvati valley. Tosh is located a further three kilometers uphill from Bharsheni. Though there was an option to trek to Tosh from Bharsheni, a 90 minutes up hill walk, we took our Jeep right up to Tosh village and then crossed a wooden bridge leading to the village.
And my goodness, what a beautiful village! Our stay was arranged at "Valley View Guest House", Tosh. To reach this place you have to go to the end of village and cross a field which leads you to this guest house. The view of the Tosh valley from the hotel was awesome!
Though the famous temple of the village of "Jamdagni Rishi" was closed and opens in January and February, there was a a long verandah in the temple building from which the snow-capped Himalayas can be seen. It was there that we had made arrangements for Martin's marriage with the help of a local priest.
The marriage was a great fun followed by a local party in the evening with few other foreigners present there, who enjoyed smoking Hashish which is cultivated and easily available. This was another attraction for foreigners apart from the scenic beauty of mystic Tosh.
Why mystic? Because the village gives a wired aura with ghost stories and with hardly any people in the village, at least nobody on the road after sunset!!
However, Tosh valley was stunning, picturesque and beautiful.
Next day we sauntered around, soaking ourselves in the cold fresh air and indulged ourselves in some local culinary delights. I didn't disturb newly wedded couple but they disturbed me!... On two nights with their weird sounds of moaning and screeching...I smiled...let them to have a memorable honeymoon on the top of the world!
On 3rd day, we left for heavenly Kheer Ganga trek via Bhersheni..and Kalga (See map above)...
