A trail from picnic area Naldehra |
Enjoying early morning cool breeze and standing in the front of Hotel Peach Blossom, Fagu, I looked at the herd of ponies and horses with their masters climbing down on a path from the village to NH22 proceeding to the famous tourist attraction of Kufri, 3kms away, for their daily livelihood. Turned around to my right to view at the majestic mountains, valleys, terraced fields and orchards. Soon we shall be leaving this beautiful serene place. A long drive to another exotic and mystic place-CHINDI in Karsog Valley. However, our first halt was NALDEHRA, a beautiful hill station on the way.

Vegetable Pakora
|
After a sumptuous breakfast of Vegetable Pakoras (deep fried vegetable dumplings), Cutlets and Masala (spiced) Tea, we were on our way, towards Shimla on NH 22 and then taking a bifurcation to right on a state road. Then to a 10 kms drive (22 kms from Shimla) on a serpentine road, from where to our left, could see the city of Shimla surrounded by mist. And we entered Naldehra-nestled between the beautiful lofty ranges of the Himalayas.Perched at an altitude of 2044 meters above the sea level, the charming hill station Naldehra enthralls the visitors with its marvelous charm and imposing landscapes. Mesmerized by its bewitching beauty and daunting greens, Lord Curzon came up with the idea of establishing a full-fledged golf course here. Set on a natural reserve, this superb 18-hole golf course is flanked by towering dunes and lush greens. Another interesting feature of this golf course is that it has an ancient Nag temple in its vicinity. Naldehra is a true paradise to witness the delightful vistas of Mother Nature in a quiet and revitalizing ambiance.
Shaded by the majestic
Deodars, rich scenic locale and amazing spectacles, this place provides much needed warmth. This serene place with fresh air is akin to a natural oxygen bar. Watching sunrise and sunset amidst the lofty hills and enjoying a long lovely walk with loved ones experiencing the lovely twittering of birds is just appealing.
Picnic in Naldehra
The jungle area around the golf course is an excellent picnic spot. There are nice views of the pine and deodar covered hills. On a clear day, you can view the snow-capped Himalayan mountains. It is ideal for long leisurely walks amidst the pines and deodars. The greatest thing here is the serene and peaceful surroundings with only you and mother nature. No touristy crowds to spoil the pretty picture. Hear the sound made by winds blowing through the pines. It sounds like a waterfall. A visit here is bound to leave you fresh and rejuvenated.
Horse riding in Naldehra

Horse riding at Naldehra |
The forest area can also be covered through horse riding. Separate tracks are there for the horses and they take you through some distant forest having more views of the valley and hills. Horse riding in the jungle among the woods is altogether a different experience available in Kufri and Naldehra only. The forest area has also been filmed many Hindi films and there is high probability of finding a film crew there in the summer months.
Awesome Shaily Peak Trek
Located at a distance of 23 km from Naldehra, Shaily Peak is a popular attraction of this place. It is a steep peak, covered with forests and has rocky trails that are used by trekkers to reach the peak. From Khatnol, the base for the steep climb to the peak, it’s roughly 8 km. You can also hire a pony. Shaily Peak is situated among the Himalayan hills near Mahakali Lake. For those who are unable to trek, there is a motorable track to reach the peak. You can get some food packed from home or a restaurant and enjoy a picnic with friends or family. The view from Shaily Tibba is juss too amazing.
About 12 km from Naldehra is the Mashobra, a thick pine forest area; and the hot sulphur springs of Tattapani is 40 km from Naldehra.
